** Semen fluid analysis (SFA) is the essential part to assess the male part of the problem. One has to know according to which criteria the SFA is performed! Before 1999 most of the laboratories was depending upon the WHO 1992 guidelines for the assessment of the semen. However, Infertility specialists around the world have noticed that these guidelines criteria do not reflect accurately the fertility potential of the semen. The WHO has changed the guidelines in 1999, also the European Society of Human Reproduction & Embryology (which is the authority for this speciality all over European countries) has published their guidelines in 2002. Both of these guidelines concentrate mainly on three issues of the analysis:-

* Using the most recent fully automated machine, which minimise the human error factor to the maximum.
* Comply totally with the manufacture guidelines with regard to the material used (all using the manufacture made materials) and maintenance.
* Blood processing according to the scientific and the manufacture protocols to insure that everything is done according to the related guidelines of good practice.
* Adopting quality control and assurance related protocols.

* At Ganin we have adopted both of these guidelines in our assessment for semen. We have found that these guidelines accurately assess the semen fertility.

** The report of SFA produced from Ganin consists of three pages:

Page one: includes all different parts of the analysis except detailed morphology
Page two: reports full details of sperm morphology; that is the analysis of each defect present of the different parts of the sperm (head, mid piece & tail).
Page three: six pictures that shows the different sperm defect that were found.
