Hormones assessment has a direct influence upon the different parts
of the diagnostic and therapeutic plans:
- Diagnostic assessment:
No diagnosis is complete without
hormonal assessment specially the female side, as it gives an
insight into the function of pelvic fertility organs. That would not
be possible with other ways of assessment. A simple example of
measuring the hormone named Prolactin (mainly responsible for milk
production from breasts) which also affects other hormones that
stimulate “eggs” production, it can not be totally predicted by
symptoms (as it may be high with no nipple discharge or sometimes
low in the presence of nipple discharge).
- Follow up of treatment:
if any of the hormones is disturbed
and treatment is prescribed, follow up the response and the level of
response can not be totally predicted except with re-measurement of
the hormone level again.
- The role of hormones measurement during ovarian stimulation programmes: Monitoring hormones levels during ovarian
stimulation has a very important role in the assessment of different
components of the therapeutic regimen.
How to make sure & confirm the accuracy of the hormonal test at
GFC?
The center has addressed the importance of this point and has
adopted the following policy to guarantee the accuracy of the
hormonal essay:
* Using the most recent fully automated machine, which minimise the
human error factor to the maximum.
* Comply totally with the manufacture guidelines with regard to the
material used (all using the manufacture made materials) and
maintenance.
* Blood processing according to the scientific and the manufacture
protocols to insure that everything is done according to the related
guidelines of good practice.
* Adopting quality control and assurance related protocols.
